Chairman’s Message
Hi all,
What a great way to start the New Year – with the Dorset YFC Speaking Competitions Day! We met on Sunday 22nd January at a very chilly (and icy!) Kingston Maurward for the competition, which saw our Clubs competing in Call My Bluff, Situations Vacant, Junior Public Speaking, Brainstrust and Junior Reading.
On behalf of the County team, I would like to say a massive thank you and well done to all the teams that took part. We had a great turnout with presence from most Clubs across the County, and the greatest number of entries that we have had for several years. We saw new faces attempting these competitions for the first time and returning members who continue to develop their skills and confidence each year that they come back. The day really showcased the talent that we have within the County – all competitors really did themselves proud!
A massive thank you goes to all our judges for the day, and of course the Organisation Queen, Tracy, for all the work behind the scenes and on the day. A final thank you goes to those who brought cake along to keep us going all day!
Our next County event is Sports Day on Sunday 5th February. I hope to see you all there – and fingers crossed that the weather holds out!
